Netflix Obeyed Subscribers! Brings Affordable Ad-supported Plan

2022 is not a great year for Netflix. At the very beginning of the second trimester, they lost a whopping 200K subscribers, and lost 76% of their stock price; even recently, their most expensive film yet failed to make a big mark in the hearts of the audience and critics.

Binged talked about how Netflix must create an alternate source of income just like all other major OTT platforms. So thankfully, Netflix didn’t follow the ad model of DisneyPlus. Mind you that we are NOT talking about Disney+Hotstar here but the American streaming giant DisneyPlus.

Regardless, Netflix thankfully listened to the audience’s demand and brought a plan which is not only affordable but tolerable to most audiences.

They have not yet released any specific pricing for India but ultimately they’ll be doing so in the upcoming month.

Microsoft Corporation will be responsible for showing ads and the present model looks phenomenal, to say the least.

The pricing for the ad-supported tier will range as low as $7-9/month. While the current plan of $15.49/month will remain ad-free.

Netflix is planning to show about 4 minutes of ad for 1 hour of video. It is too less in comparison to platforms like Hulu which not only show more ads but also repeat them at a great frequency.

Netflix won’t be showing ads every time too.

There won’t be any ads while streaming original films but only those movies will be ad-supported which are produced by some other company and Netflix just got streaming right of the same.

The kids’ program won’t have any ads. They are also not very interested in showing ads to newer series, but those series that are now old will have ads.

Let’s see how it goes and stay tuned to Binged for more updates.
