Netflix Picks Up Sesame Street With Fresh Format Changes

Netflix has come on board to save Sesame Street! Following Warner Bros. Discovery’s decision not to renew the prominent, long-running children’s show, Netflix has stepped in as its saviour by forging a new deal with Sesame Workshop. This arrangement allows the streaming platform to air all new episodes later this year. HBO Max will no longer be the home of the show’s upcoming content.

Starting later this year, the streaming giant will officially become the new home for the program, beginning with a significantly revamped Season 56. Instead of its usual magazine format, the show will feature a longer main segment and introduce a new animated series titled Tales From 123. Netflix also plans to release this new season in three separate parts.

Netflix made the official announcement on Monday via social media. The company also revealed that past seasons of the iconic children’s show will arrive on the platform later this year.

While introducing fresh format changes, the upcoming season will still include beloved segments like Elmo’s World and Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck. Netflix has teased interactive elements such as Cookie Monster’s new Cookie Cart and the exploration of Abby’s Fairy Garden, home to enchanting creatures. The new episodes will focus on a single, longer 11-minute story, promising more character-driven comedy and emotional depth.

Sesame Street is one of the longest-running children’s shows in television history, with a total of 55 seasons and 4,731 episodes. Stay tuned for more updates.
