Netflix, Prime Video, SonyLIV to Showcase Top OTT Titles at 52nd IFFI

The 52nd edition of the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is being held in Goa from today onwards and will conclude on 28th November. And for the first time, Indian OTT platforms namely Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, SonyLIV, Zee5, and Voot are slated to participate in the hybrid event.

They’ll do so through various modes like masterclasses, content launches, curated screenings, and other physical and virtual events. For this article, we have compiled a list of films and shows that will be showcased at the 52nd IFFI by Indian OTT platforms.

The Power of the Dog (Netflix)

Helmed by Oscar-winner Jane Campion, it’s a period western drama movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, and Jesse Plemons, amongst others. The film will have its India premiere organized by Netflix before the film eventually makes its way to the streaming platform on 1st December 2021.

The film follows the story of two brothers Phil and George Burbank, who are Montana-based wealthy ranchers. The former portrays himself as raw and brutal while the latter is sensitive and kind-hearted. Things take an interesting turn when a widowed inn owner Rose Gordon and her son enter the brothers’ lives.

Aranyak (Netflix)

A preview of the opening episode of the upcoming Netflix crime drama series starring Raveena Tandon, Saurav Khurana, and Ashutosh Rana will be showcased during the film festival. The plot revolves around the investigation of a missing foreign teenage tourist by two disparate cops which leads them to a killer creature lurking in the forest. The show is set to start streaming on Netflix from 10th December.

Chhorii (Amazon Prime Video)

Directed by Vishal Furia, the Amazon original horror flick ‘Chhorii’ features Nushrratt Bharuccha in the lead role and the film will have its exclusive world premiere at the ongoing IFFI on 25th November, a day before its release on Amazon Prime Video. The film ostensibly follows a pregnant woman who escapes along with her husband to a remote village in a house that is surrounded by eerie sugarcane fields. The woman soon begins to experience some strange phenomenon and past secrets begin to unravel during her quest to investigate the mystery.

Dhamaka (Netflix)

Although the Kartik Aaryan starrer thriller film has already been released on Netflix, a special screening of the Ram Madhvani’s directorial will be held at IIFI. The film follows a washed-out journalist Arjun Pathak who sees a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity when he receives a shocking call from a terrorist on his radio show.

Tryst with Destiny (SonyLIV)

OTT platform SonyLIV will showcase the critically acclaimed web series ‘Tryst with Destiny’ at the film festival. The anthology narrates the stories of various people from diverse backgrounds. These characters range from a billionaire (Ashish Vidyarthi) to a lower caste couple (Vineet Kumar Singh) to a corrupt policeman (Jaideep Ahlawat).
