As you guys found out last week, Mollywood’s first ever Superhero film, Minnal Murali, is going to drop on Netflix. While we do not know when the film will premiere on the streaming platform; we do know that we are going to get an official announcement soon – especially since the filmmakers completed Minnal Murali’s post production, just over 24 hours ago. This is a boost to both Netflix and interested Netflix subscribers, since it is one step closer for the movie to finally release on the platform, after 3 years.
This 3-year long project was marred by multiple issues including the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent lockdown, right-wing communal forces destroying a 50 lakh set causing more delays, finding a new set location and recreating the set from scratch and being forced to stop shooting when their new location fell under a recognized “containment zone”. Little wonder that the filmmakers turned to an OTT platform to release Minnal Murali – especially since theatres will likely not open until the beginning of November (at least), according to latest reports.
Still, this means that Netflix is now preparing to launch a trailer for Minnal Murali and you know what that means – a release date is incoming. While it is pretty much a waiting game for now, we have been waiting for a year already. A couple of weeks shouldn’t make too much difference. The last known release date for the film was September 24th 2021 (apparently), but we don’t expect Netflix to stick to that timeline – they have a lot more content releasing this month and would likely only drop the movie for streaming by October. Still, we expect the trailer to finally drop before the end of this month.
