Netflix has renewed its blockbuster Spanish show ‘Elite’ for a new Season 6, even before the premiere of Elite Season 5. The early renewal is a testament to the popularity and sizeable viewership numbers for the coming-of-age young adult series. Netflix is notorious for cancelling shows it thinks do not meet its viewership criteria. Elite has proved to be a hit performer for Netflix.
Besides the announcement regarding Elite Season 6, Netflix also announced a new batch of Elite Short Stories, the short-form spinoff of the popular show. Elite: Short Stories: Phillipe, Caye, & Felipe will premiere on Netflix on , December 15; Samuel & Omar will premiere on December 20; and Patrick will premiere on December 23.
The streaming giant has renewed another popular Spanish show on its platform, ‘Valeria’, for a new season. Valeria Season 3 will however be the final season of the glamorous show on Netflix. Valeria Season 2 had premiered a couple of months ago on the platform.
Along with renewing the two already streaming shows, Netflix also unveiled a slate of new Spanish shows and movies for its platform. Besides these, it also made a few announcements regarding previously announced Spanish content.

Films –
Infiesto
Written and directed by Patxi Amezcua, starring Isak Férriz and Iria del Río. Two detectives investigate the reappearance of a young woman who had been taken to be dead for months. At the same time, a deadly virus triggers a national emergency. Production on the film has kicked off today.
Nowhere
Directed by Albert Pintó, and starring Anna Castillo, Nowhere is a survival drama set in the near future. Nada, a young pregnant woman, escapes from her war-torn country by hiding in a container on a cargo ship. Halfway through the trip, the ship sails into a storm and the container lands in the sea. Trapped in the container, Nada goes into labour, delivers a girl, and must now fight to survive, as well as ensure the survival of the tiny life.

Smiley
Produced by Minoría Absoluta, Smiley is a comedy, adapted from the play of the same name, by Guillem Clúa.
The Silence
Aitor Gabilondo, who has earlier created HBO Europe original Patria, is the creator of the show. No details of the show have been revealed yet.
Non-fiction Series –
‘A quién le gusta mi follower’
A dating reality show hosted by Luján Argüelles, and featuring stars Jedet, Aroyitt and Jonan Wiergo.
‘Dónde está Marta’
Directed by Paula Cons, it is a docuseries that investigates the disappearance of Marta del Castillo 12 years after the incident.
