Netflix has renewed some reality shows from Japan for more seasons. The platform is expanding the unscripted slate of Japan and has made a few announcements.
A dating show, ‘Is She the Wolf’ will be streaming soon. It was announced some days ago and is adapted from the original show ‘Who Is The Wolf’. ‘Love Village’, another dating show that is quite popular with the Japanese, has been renewed for a second season. Love Village is quite interesting as it introduced ordinary people from the age group of 35 to 60 in the dating show. There will be another show named ‘Love Like K-Drama’ where Korean and Japanese actors come together for a competition. ‘Last One Standing’ too will have another season soon. It is a comedy show where comedians compete with each other.
However, the platform could have focused more on the scripted section. The unscripted reality shows are very popular in Japan so it is very logical to make more of them to make more money. But the Netflix original section is not very good in Japan and there are not many remarkable shows and movies right now. The anime industry is flourishing pretty right but there is nothing significant happening in live action originals. Instead of renewing the shows and announcing new ones, it would have been better if Netflix released some new live action shows.
