Mindy Kaling’s ‘Never Have I Ever’ starring Maitreyi Ramakrishnan in the lead as Devi, an Indian-American Tamil Teenager girl from L.A gets renewed for its fourth season, which apparently is the finale season, Netflix confirms.
This coming of age drama centred around an Indian American teen Devi, has already wrapped production of it’s third season. The production for fourth season is expected to be rolling in coming months. The previous season focused on Devi’s teenage love-life, her insecurities and desperation to stand out when another Indian student joins her school. The show mainly highlighted Devi’s interesting love-triangle with Paxton and Ben played by Darren Barnet and Jeren Lweinson respectively.
The first season of the show was a bonafide blockbuster for the streaming service with around 40M households tuning in during it’s first four weeks. The show also had it’s breakout star in Maitreyi Ramakrishnan who will also be soon seen in Netflix rom-com The Netherfield Girls. She is also signed to voice Priya in Pixar’s Turning Red.
“We are thrilled to have two more seasons of Never Have I Ever. It’s everything we want in a Netflix comedy series: authentic, specific, funny, and full of heart. I love that a story I relate to so deeply – about a young, Indian-American girl – hits on so many universal truths that resonate with just about everyone. We’re eternally grateful to Mindy, Lang and the wildly talented cast. And we can’t wait for everyone to see the final two seasons.” said Bela Bajaria, Netflix Head of Global TV.
Produced by Universal Television in association with 3Arts Entertainment, Original Langster and Kaling International the show also stars Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, Leena Rodriguez and Ramona Young. It’s also reported that The Goldbergs’ Anirudh Pisharody joined the show in a recurring role for season 3.
Now that we have an official confirmation regarding the show’s culmination with a fourth season, our anticipation for season three has just doubled.. and for season four.. just quadrupled. However Netflix hasn’t revealed the release date of season 3 yet.
