It is so not good to be a fan of Netflix’s The Witcher these days. Just kidding, folks! Everything that has happened in the world of Lauren Schmidt Hissrich’s show in the last few months has bewildered the fans. Henry Cavill’s departure was indeed heartbreaking. Then, we got Liam Hemsworth as his replacement out of nowhere. Also, the poor critical reception of The Witcher: Blood Origin made things worse for Netflix. Despite all these dilemmas, it seems like the streaming service has plans for Season 5.
Sources of Redanian Intelligence have confirmed that The Witcher Season 5 will arrive on Netflix in future. It may also serve as the final instalment of the fantasy series.
In September 2021, Netflix renewed the series for a third season, slated to hit the streaming service this year. We already know about Chris Hemsworth’s baby brother taking over the role of Geralt of Rivia in the fourth season. So, we should not lose hope with Season 5.
Netflix is yet to make an official announcement about Season 5. However, Redanian Intelligence believes that the streaming network could greenlight the fifth entry. Back-to-back filming of Seasons 4 and 5 is on the cards as well.
The majority of The Witcher’s fanbase is not ecstatic about Liam Hemsworth playing the leading character. And it is understandable. Henry Cavill’s charismatic screen presence helped the show become one of the most popular Netflix series ever. It will be a daunting task for Hemsworth to do complete justice to the Man of Steel actor’s performance.
Netflix is notorious when it comes to cancelling shows. The streaming service has axed many good-performing and prominent shows without any hesitation. Many believed that The Witcher would meet the same fate after Henry Cavill’s departure. But it seems like Seasons 4 and 5 are safe for now. Stay tuned for more updates.
