Netflix Reveals Release Date For Oscar Nominee ‘To Kill A Tiger’

Indian viewers will finally be able to watch the much-talked-about Oscar-nominated documentary film ‘To Kill A Tiger’. Streaming giant Netflix has just announced the release date for ‘To Kill A Tiger’, and it is 8th March, 2024, just a couple of days before the Oscar Awards 2024 are announced on the 10th of March.

We at Binged had earlier informed our readers that Netflix had acquired the worldwide streaming rights for documentary film ‘To Kill A Tiger’. The India-centric film has been generating a lot of interest in awards circles in recent times. For one, the film has been nominated for the Oscars 2024 in the Best Documentary Film category. Buzz says that To Kill A Tiger is frontrunner to win the Oscar in its category.

Secondly, the basic premise of ‘To Kill A Tiger’ is interest-worthy in itself. Set in the backdrop of rural India, the film follows a poor Jharkhand farmer, Ranjit, who takes up the insurmountable struggle to get justice for his 13-year-old daughter, the victim of a gang-rape. Ranjit’s relentless quest for justice is virtually unheard of in a country where rape and rape victims are routinely hushed up for fear of social stigma.

To Kill A Tiger is written and directed by Canada-based filmmaker Nisha Pahuja. The film is co-produced by the National Film Board of Canada, along with Nisha Pahuja, David Oppenheim and Cornelia Principe. Priyanka Chopra, Mindy Kaling and Dev Patel are on board ‘To Kill A Tiger’ as executive producers.

The official synopsis of ‘To Kill A Tiger’ reads – “Indian farmer Ranjit takes on the fight of his life when he demands justice for his 13-year-old daughter, the victim of a brutal gang rape. His decision to support his daughter is virtually unheard of, and his journey unprecedented.”

Documentary film ‘To Kill A Tiger’ premieres on Netflix worldwide on 8th March, 2024. Have a look at the trailer of the film –
