The makers of upcoming Netflix film, ‘Meenakshi Sundareshwar’ have finally announced a release date for the movie. Adding to the string of digital releases for the festive season, the rom-com starring Sanya Malhotra and yester-year actress Bhagyashree’s son, Abhimanyu Dasani (of ‘Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota’ fame) in the lead is all set to stream on Netflix from the 5th of November for the occasion of Diwali. Produced by Dharma Productions and directed by Vivek Soni, the first song of ‘Meenakshi Sundareshwar’, titled ‘Tu Yahin Hai’, was released by Karan Johar just last week.
‘Meenakshi Sundareshwar’ is a feel-good, romantic-comedy set in the heart of Tamil Nadu- Madurai. The film follows the story of a young couple as they navigate through life and deal with everyday trials and tribulations. Directed by Vivek Soni, the film has been co-written by him and Aarsh Vora. The first look showed the couple dressed in south Indian wedding attire, where the official synopsis of the movie read, “What’s in a name? A lot, as Meenakshi and Sundareshwar would express in their upcoming Netflix film, Meenakshi Sundareshwar.”
While actress Sanya Malhotra is not new to the web space, with two of her films, Anurag Basu’s ‘Ludo’ and Anu Menon’s ‘Shakuntala Devi’ premiering on OTT platforms, Abhimanyu Dasani is foraying into the web world with ‘Meenakshi Sundareshwar’. So, save the date for this festive romance coz from the looks of it, this may be the sweet, breezy romance we’ve all been waiting for. We should expect a trailer from the makers soon.
