Netflix Ropes In ‘Sylvie’s Love’ Star Nnamdi Asomugha For ‘The Good Nurse’

The much awaited Netflix thriller ‘The Good Nurse’ has got a new cast member. The latest to join the film, starring Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne, is former football player and Amazon’s ‘Sylvie’s Love’ star Nnamdi Asomugha.

A serial killer thriller film, ‘The Good Nurse’ is based on Charles Graeber’s 2013 book called ‘The Good Nurse: A True Story of Medicine, Madness, and Murder’. It will be directed by BAFTA-nominated Danish writer-director Tobias Lindholm (‘Borgen’, ‘Mindhunter’, ‘The Hunt’) with a script by Oscar nominated Krysty Wilson-Cairns (‘1917’).

Netflix’s ‘The Good Nurse‘ will tell the true story of the pursuit and capture of Charles Cullen, one of the most prolific serial killers in history. While he is suspected of murdering up to 400 patients during his 16-year career as a nurse, he was implicated for the deaths of as many as 300 patients, spread across 9 hospitals in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Cullen was a married father who was thought to be a responsible caretaker but his horrific act earned him the title “The Angel of Death”.

While Academy Award winner Redmayne (‘Trial Of The Chicago 7’, ‘The Theory Of Everything’) will play the role of Cullen, two-time Oscar nominee Chastain (‘Zero Dark Thirty’, ‘Interstellar’, ‘The Martian’) will play the role of the nurse who was Cullen’s colleague and risked her job and family’s safety to help two former Newark homicide detectives to stop him and his killing spree. Asomugha will play Danny Baldwin, one of the lead police detectives who work’s Chastain’s character to investigate the deaths.

Netflix grabbed the global rights for the highly demanded ‘The Good Nurse’ in a big deal from the European Film Market. The much awaited buzzy film will be the first English feature for director Lindholm and will be produced by Darren Aronofsky’s Protozoa and FilmNation.

Netflix is yet to announce the release date of Eddie Redmayne and Jessica Chastain starrer ‘The Good Nurse’.
