It is the auspicious occasion of Sankranthi today – a big festival in India, and especially in Telugu culture. So what better day than today for streaming giant Netflix to reveal its upcoming Telugu movies slate for 2024.
This morning, the deep-pocketed streaming behemoth Netflix made a stunning announcement on its social media handles. Netflix India South proclaimed that it has grabbed the post-theatrical streaming rights for a slew of buzzy Telugu films – 12 in all – from acclaimed production houses and with big stars. The Telugu films grabbed by Netflix for post-theatrical streaming include biggies such as Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule, Prabhas’ Salaar and Jr NTR’s Devara.
The upcoming Telugu lineup from Netflix India includes the following –
1. Devara Part 1 – Action drama, starring Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, produced by Yuvasudha Arts and N. T. R. Arts, directed by Koratala Siva. Streams in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi
2. Buddy – Telugu remake of Tamil film ‘Teddy’. Starring Allu Sirish, Ajmal Ameer, Prisha Rajesh Singh; produced by Studio Green Films Private Limited; directed by Sam Anton. Streams in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
3. Gangs Of Godavari – Action drama, starring Vishwak Sen, Anjali, Neha Shetty, produced by Sithara Entertainment. Streaming in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada
4. SVCC37 – Action drama, starring Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Vaishnavi, produced by Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra (SVCC) and Mango Mass. Streaming in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada
5. Karthikeya 12 – Untitled film starring Karthikeya, produced by UV Creations. Streaming in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi
6. VD 12 – Vijay Deverakonda’s untitled film, with Sreeleela, produced by Sprint Screens LLP. Streaming in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi
7. Tillu Square – Starring Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Anupama Parameswaran, produced by Sithara Entertainment. The sequel to DJ Tillu. Streaming in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi
8. Salaar – Prabhas’ latest release, directed by Prashanth Neel, and produced by Hombale Films. Will stream soon in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada
9. Hi Nanna – Nani and Mrunal Thakur starrer, already streaming on Netflix in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi
10. NBK 109 – Nandamuri Balakrishnan’s untitled movie, produced by Sprint Screens LLP. Streams in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada
11. Production No. 9 – Untitled film from Ga2 Pictures. Streaming in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada
12. Pushpa 2: The Rule – Allu Arjun’s much-awaited sequel to Pushpa. Directed by Sukumar, produced by Mythri Movie Makers. Streaming in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi
Interestingly, all these films will premiere on Netflix in the four South languages of Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada, but not Hindi, except for popular titles such as Pushpa 2: The Rule, Devara, VD12, Karthikeya 12, and Tillu Square. Unfortunately, Salaar in Hindi will not stream on Netflix.
