Since its inception, OTT giant Netflix has showcased several widely admired and highly rated series including ‘Dark’, ‘Stranger Things’, ‘You’, ‘Ozark’, and more recently ‘The Night Agent’ and ‘Beef’, amongst others.
But on the other side of the spectrum, there have also been some Netflix shows which were not received well by some critics. The most recent example is that of a comedy crime series which started streaming on Netflix last week. We are talking about a show called ‘Florida Man’.
‘Florida Man’ features Edgar Ramirez as a debt-ridden cop who is assigned a mission to go to his home-state Florida and track the whereabouts of a gangster’s girlfriend. But the seemingly simple mission soon spirals out of control.
‘Florida Man’ has sadly become one of the rare Netflix shows to receive the lowest possible critics’ score of 0% on reviews aggregation portal Rotten Tomatoes. Yeah, you read that right – 0%. But is this Netflix show as bad as the 0% score suggests?
You’ll be surprised to know that ‘Florida Man’ has received an audience score of 82% on the same website – Rotten Tomatoes. And on IMDb, the series currently holds a relatively decent user rating of 6.7/10. This implies that the show is being kind of liked by a segment of viewers. Although the number of user ratings are still insufficient to reach a solid conclusion.
Moreover, another possible reason for the 0% critics rating for ‘Florida Man’ might be that, as of now, the score is based on the reviews from just five number of critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Because there are so many shows and movies being released on various OTT platforms every week globally, not all critics are able to review all these titles.
And even in the case of the Netflix show ‘Florida Man’, if more critics had reviewed the series, it might have got a somewhat better critics’ score. Having said that, the series has still got average to negative reviews from critics. While some reviewers have suggested prospective viewers to stay away from it, on the other hand, some others have called ‘Florida Man’ as refreshing and a fun watch despite its downsides.
