The much anticipated Netflix-original, Icelandic web series, ‘Katla’ has finally dropped a trailer. The 2-minute promotional video released on the official YouTube page of Netflix, a few hours ago and already it has slowly started to create a buzz all over social media. The trailer has proved to be even more mysterious than the previous teaser, which dropped a week ago and that has made the wait for the upcoming Nordic series that much harder. Check out the trailer at the end of this article.
We finally get to see more of the plot in this longer promotional video. As mentioned in our previous article, ‘Katla’ the web series is based on an active Icelandic volcano of the same name, although most of its “activities” were prominent during 930 AD to 1913 AD. In this TV series, due to global warming and other man-made disasters, the volcano erupted and killed many people, as well as affecting the life of the people living around the natural disaster.
In this new trailer, we find out that it has been one year since the explosion happened, but they soon find a woman, who is completely covered in ash walking away from the volcano. After a quick montage of clips, we find out that she was one of the people presumed killed after the volcano erupted over a year ago. She gets a happy reunion with her father and after some medical check-ups, she is sent home.
But this is where the story starts to turn mysterious. According to an old legend, spouted by an old woman, this has happened before. Halfway through the trailer, we are given a quick rundown of the people in the area finding new discoveries after the woman was found. It starts to get more vague, but the trailer is intriguing enough to keep the viewer interested in the trailer and keep and eye out for its upcoming June release.
Nordic thriller web series, ‘Katla’ will premiere on Netflix on June 17th 2021.
