Netflix Series ‘Soup’ Gets An Interesting New Title. What’s Cooking?

It has been more than one-and-a-half years since streaming giant Netflix announced an interesting looking dark comedy crime series titled ‘Soup’. It has been directed by the talented filmmaker Abhishek Chaubey (Ishqiya, Udta Punjab, Ray) and is headlined by the terrific duo Konkona Sensharma and Manoj Bajpayee. But we still don’t have an official update on the show’s release date on Netflix.

The latest info which we do have is that the eagerly anticipated Netflix series has recently undergone a change in its title. So, ‘Soup’ has now been interestingly titled ‘Killer Soup’. So, the question is: what did the makers have in mind while changing the title and does it tell us something new about the show’s story?

It was previously revealed that the underlying story of ‘Killer Soup’ is loosely based on a real-life incident. The show’s basic plot revolves around a woman named Swathi (played by Konkona Sensharma), an amateurish cook who aspires to own a restaurant. But her husband Prabhakaran (Manoj Bajpayee) does not support her wife’s wishes in that regard and is suspicious of her. Later, Swathi gets an opportunity to fulfill her dreams and she comes up with an intricate plan.

If we take it in a literal sense, the recent change in title for the Netflix series from ‘Soup’ to ‘Killer Soup’ suggests that Konkona Sensharma’s character plans to make a soup with which she might want to get rid of her husband. Because previously a behind-the-scenes video clip was also unveiled which showed the wife serving ‘soup’ to her husband. So, that might be a possibility.

Having said that, the new title ‘Killer Soup’ could also figuratively mean that the term ‘Killer Soup’ actually refers to the master plan cooked up by Konkona Sensharma’s character. The Netflix show’s plot, teaser, and the title change are all shrouded in an intriguing mystery. And we can’t wait to see what’s cooking in the forthcoming Netflix series ‘Killer Soup’.
