Netflix Sets Cast For Hotel Period Drama ‘Winter Palace’

Netflix has announced the cast for its upcoming period hotel drama ‘Winter Palace’ that is touted to be a cross between ‘Downtown Abbey’ and ‘The White Lotus’.

Cyril Metzger (‘Happening’) will play André Morel while Manon Clavel (‘The Truth’) is set to star as Rose. They play the role of a married couple who are guests at the hotel around which the show revolves. Simon Ludders (‘Bridgerton’) plays ambitious aristocrat Lord Fairfax, whose dream is to turn the hotel in a winter holiday destination.

Other cast members for ‘Winter Palace’ include Astrid Roos as Lady Isobel, Henry Pettigrew as Sir Conan Doyle, Clive Standen as Lance Raney, Vincent Heneine as Chef Voclain and Axel Granberger as Marcus. Other than the above Swiss stars Alix Henzelin, Antoine Basler, Gaspard Boesch, Roland Vouilloz, Serge Musy and Karim Barras also feature in the series.

An eight part series, ‘Winter Palace’ tells the story of how the luxury winter tourism market came to be. In 1899, hotelier André Morel has a dream of turning his establishment into a palace accessible for the entire winter season. Between the climatic conditions, the rather boorish staff and the demanding guests, will he be able to make his dreams come true?

Written by Lindsay Shapero and directed by Pierre Monnard, ‘Winter Palace’ a co-production between Swiss network RTS, French production company Oble and Netflix. ‘Winter Palace’ will land on Netflix by the end of next year.
