Netflix Shuts Down Its Services In Russia In Protest Of War!

Ukraine is currently in an attack. We all are aware of the fact that Russia has invaded Ukraine and is currently under a severe crisis.

But, American streaming giant Netflix is showing its protest by shutting its services. A Netflix spokesperson said, “Given the circumstances on the ground, we have decided to suspend our service in Russia.”

This also came as a response when Russian authorities directed all the streamers to broadcast the Russian propaganda through their platforms. However, Netflix is not the only company to pull its services from Russia. Last week we saw Warner Bros Pictures alongside Walt Disney. They turned down the theatrical release of The Batman and Turning Red in response to the war. In fact, TikTok has also limited its services in Russia instead of complete revoke.

According to data, Netflix has only about 1 million subscribers in Russia but it is significant nonetheless.

Also, it is not the first step that Netflix has taken to show its protest. On Saturday they released a documentary on their YouTube channel so that it could be universally accessed. The documentary shot in 2015 showed the plight of Ukrainians in fighting against the Russians. It is called Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom.
