Netflix is taking it seriously with the animated series and films it is releasing one after the other. The latest on the list is the fun and comedic family animated movie “The Mitchells vs. The Machines”. Directed by Mike Rianda, the movie comes from the duo of producers that have animated movies like “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatball” and “Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse” in their bag.
The movie follows the journey of the Mitchell family who desperately need a reason to bond with each other before it’s too late for them. Katie Mitchell, the talented daughter gets accepted into the film school of her dreams and she is beyond excited. Her father Rick grabs the opportunity of dropping their daughter off to college, into a family road trip.
As Mom, Dad, the younger brother and the family fur baby get together to drop Katie off, their road trip is cut short as an uprising of the machines takes over the world. Starting from our favourite smart phones to the home appliances, everything comes to life and starts a rebellion to take control over things. This gets worse as brand new robots designed for humans, comes to life and joins the movement. The Mitchells are somehow the only ones who can stop the uprising. They bond together in a way that they never expected as they fight to save the world from the machines taking over.
The movie has a star studded cast with Abbi Jacobson, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Mike Rianda in the lead roles. The movie also has Conan O’ Brian, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, Charlyne Yi, Elle Mills, Jay Pharaoh and others lending their voices for undisclosed roles.
Along with all these, Netflix dropped the trailer with one of the most lit background music right now. The hottest boy band, the K-Pop idols BTS’ uber famous “Mic Drop” is set as the music for the trailer making it ever more dope and cool.
The movie originally set for theatrical release, postponed its delay due to COVID-19. Netflix bagged the rights for the worldwide movie distribution for about $110 million. The movie now is set to release on the 30th of April.
