Amy Adams starrer thriller film, ‘The Woman in the Window’ is being acquired by Netflix from Disney.
As per news reports, Netflix is still in early negotiations with Disney to release the film on their streaming platform which was originally produced under the Fox 2000 banner soon after which Disney acquired it.
The film is one of the last productions from Fox Film Studio before being transferred to Disney’s repertoire. It was originally lined up for a release in October, 2019 delayed to May, 2020 before being taken off from the release schedule.
‘The Woman in the Window’ is a book adaptation of author A.J. Finn’s novel following a child psychologist who witnesses a violent crime while spying on her neighbours. An intense thriller that is part ‘Gone Girl’ and part ‘The Girl on the Train’ it’s directed by Joe Wright and written by Tracy Letts.
Besides Adams the cast includes Gary Oldman, Bryan Tyree Henry, Julianne Moore, Anthony Mackie and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
Like most big-budget films that have hit the brakes on theatrical releases, Disney is taking a leaf right out of their book and selling the film to Netflix to earn revenue in cash-strapped COVID times especially with a film that doesn’t fit well with the content Disney puts out.
Let’s hope this deal works out well for Netflix and audiences can enjoy the fast-paced thriller soon!
