It’s Netflix’s Top 10 day, and the fresh stats for the week of March 4 – March 10, 2024, are out, revealing a small surprise.
Sriram Raghavan’s latest film, Merry Christmas (Hindi), has garnered more positive attention than its theatrical release since its debut on Netflix a few days ago. Reflecting this, it has made it to the top 10 list in the non-English global category.
Merry Christmas (Hindi) has been watched for 2,900,000 hours with 1,200,000 views, according to official stats.
But the surprise here is that despite having a cast like Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi and a renowned director like Sriram Raghavan, the film was beaten not once but twice by the regional Malayalam film, Anweshippin Kandethum.
Tovino Thomas’s Anweshippin Kandethum has outperformed Merry Christmas (Hindi) in both the non-English global category and the top 10 India list.
In the non-English global films category, the Malayalam thriller Anweshippin Kandethum claimed the 8th spot, with Merry Christmas (Hindi) at the 9th spot.
In the India top 10 list, Anweshippin Kandethum holds the #1 spot, while Merry Christmas (Hindi) is at #2.
In both lists, Merry Christmas (Hindi) trails behind a Malayalam regional thriller.
