Netflix is conquering one region at a time and now is the time for the French. After almost a year of setting up office in the French capital, Netflix is all set to bring out the big French guns now. Netflix received amazing success with their latest French series Lupin and seeing the positive feedback and also the stories coming from there, it’s all set to release more movies, series and documentaries.
In a recent presentation of what the French slate looks like, the streaming service is expecting to bring out 27 French Originals along with others by the end of this year. The list for the French movies released includes the sequel of Guillaume Pierret’s thriller “Lost Bullet,” and Regis Blondeau’s “A Tombeau Ouvert,” a remake of the Korean film “A Hard Day.” Netflix will also be bringing Jean Claude Van Damme’s action packed movie “The Last Mercenary” and series “Braqueurs,” which is a spinoff of Julien Leclercq’s movie. Besides this, Netflix has already unveiled the trailer for their upcoming “Oxygene”.
Not only will the French bring in action based movies more into the streaming service, but there will be family oriented and light hearted shows and movies for people to watch too. Among them, “8 rue de l’humanite” is on the top, as it follows the lives of 7 families living in a Parisian Apartment stuck with each other during last year’s deadly pandemic.
Among series, “7 Lives of Lea” is on its way. The story follows the journey of a woman who goes back in time and wakes in the body of different people every day. Along with that “Bendo” is another on the list, that follows the journey of a journalist who has to save her family and pay a drug dealer money before Ramadan starts
Netflix’s series for 2021 also includes “Gone for Good,” based on Harlan Coben’s book. The service is currently filming the drama series “La Part Du Feu,” which centers around the Notre Dame Cathedral fire and a docu series on Johnny Hallyday “Johnny By Johnny ”.
Not only is Netflix investing in French series and movies, it is also investing in bringing in new talents from France. This is the reason Netflix has also tied up with several French film schools to help the streaming giant in getting more raw talent from the country.
The recent French releases on Netflix have helped it to gain more subscribers everyday and has also seen growth. Also the set up of the office in Paris, is leading Netflix in directly dealing and planning with the upcoming content to be released by the streaming service.
