As we had reported earlier, Netflix and Viacom 18 have recently tied up for three upcoming web shows. One of those – Taj Mahal 1989 – has finally found some semblance of a star cast.
As per reports in the media, Neeraj Kabi, of Sacred Games and Line of Descent fame, will play a prominent part in the web series. Joining him in the cast will be popular TV, film and web actress, Sheeba Chaddha. Sheeba recently shone in Badhaai Ho and Gully Boy, and will now play a crucial role in Taj Mahal 1989.
Celebrated Marathi film industry actress Geetanjali Kulkarni, whose movies Court and Photograph were both critical and commercial successes, joins the cast of Taj Mahal 1989. She also took centre-stage recently in the SonyLiv show, TVF’S Gullak.
Lastly, Danish Hussain of Dhobi Ghat will also feature in the series.
Taj Mahal 1989 has been described by the production house as a tale of love and longing in the backdrop of the iconic monument, Taj Mahal. Not much else is known about the genre of the upcoming show.
