With Disney officially announcing its own streaming platform Disney+, that is to be launched in November later in the year; there is a lot of debate going on as to who gets to benefit and who is losing among them.
While Netflix hasn’t been directly referred to as competition from Disney, everyone knows what the reality is. Disney too acknowledges it indirectly as it expects to lose money in the initial years. Until now, it has been a one way street with Disney providing its properties to Netflix to generate content and make millions. From now onwards, it will be the opposite.
The problem here is that Netflix has already established in the market and they a step ahead even if it loses a bit momentarily. The bounce back could be more natural, and easier than a new company spending billions and establishing itself. The initial rounds, therefore, belongs to Netflix. In the long run, who knows what will happen after five years from today, when Disney expects to start making money.
