Netflix is all set for its next epic saga. Netflix’s major European Netflix series “1899” has now finalised its lead cast and its getting massive every minute. The show has been making headlines ever since it was announced to the world, as this comes from Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, the creators of Netflix’s superhit German show “Dark”.
Now the makers have come forward with the cast of the series and it looks super cool already. The brand new actors joining previously announced Emily Beecham are: Aneurin Barnard (The Goldfinch), Andreas Pietschmann (Dark), Miguel Bernardeau (Elite), Maciej Musial (The Witcher), Anton Lesser (Game Of Thrones), Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen (The Rain), Rosalie Craig (London Road), Clara Rosager (The Rain), Maria Erwolter (The Ritual), Yann Gael (Sakho & Mangane), Mathilde Ollivier (Overlord), José Pimentão (Al Berto), Isabella Wei, Gabby Wong, Jonas Bloquet, Fflyn Edwards and Alexandre Willaume.
The teaser for the series was released recently and by the looks of it, one can definitely say it is going to be one scary ride in the sea. Without unveiling much about the story, the teaser shows a ship that was headed towards, stranded in the sea in a storm and one can hear screams of the people onboard. One thing is for sure, this ride is nowhere going to be pleasant in any sense.
The series 1899 comes after the creators inked a deal with Netflix for bringing more projects into the streaming platform. The creation of the period drama was decided back in 2018 itself, and the basic plot of the series tells a story about a mystery set on a migrant boat sailing from Europe to the United States. Apparently the shoot for the upcoming series has already begun and is being shot on the best studios in Germany, Studio Babelsberg. The shoot is underway on a brand new, state of the art ‘virtual production’ facility known as a ‘Volume’.
Freise and bo Odar’s earlier superhit show was strictly filmed in the German language but with “1899”, the show will go on a complete pan European mode. As the makers mentioned, since there are actors from all over Europe, the series will have dialogues in each of their native languages. Though the majority of the series will be filmed in English; Spanish, German, Danish and few other European languages will also appear in the series.
Filming in such an expensive set has cost Netflix a lot, especially since it had to set up a lot of equipment and set to bring the feel of being on a ship that too in 1899. With the shoot already starting, the makers have decided to wrap up the shoot by the November of this year and get into post production as soon as possible.
Dark, without doubt was one of the biggest shows in Netflix, that ran for a successful three seasons. Viewers and fans have high hopes with “1899” too, as without doubt they have got the best creators and with the new line of actors joining in, the period drama for sure will be one of the most epic ones releasing on Netflix. With “1899”, Netflix has already stepped into making Europe’s largest production stage for its biggest multilingual series
