Netflix’s 3 Body Problem Is Ending With A Third Season

The ancient Newtonian problem involving three bodies resulted in an unstable star system. However, amidst the many issues the system faces, the fourth season of this show won’t be adding to that dilemma. According to a recent announcement, the show created by the makers of Game of Thrones will end with its third and final season.

So, was this ending expected?

Statistically, this outcome was as clear as a summer’s day, especially given the lack of viewership, which made it inevitable. From the very beginning, the show struggled with viewership; even in its first full week run, it only had 15.6 million viewers. The Game of Thrones tag wasn’t effective either.

To conduct a proper postmortem, you can blame the complex science concepts, although Netflix tried to make them more accessible. The writing and pacing of the show might also be questionable, but enough of these speculations.

Released in March, the series will end with its third season, as disclosed during the Netflix FYSEE panel this Friday.

Prior to this announcement, the series was renewed for a second season, but observing the treatment of *1899*, fans were skeptical about the renewal in general. However, as Netflix is planning to give it a proper farewell, the show might be a late bloomer.

Talking about the reaction of the creators, they aren’t focusing on the ending but are determined to enjoy the storytelling.

“We’re thrilled that we get to tell this story through to its epic conclusion. Ever since we read the last page of Cixin Liu’s magnificent trilogy, we hoped we’d be able to bring the audience to the end of the universe with us. Here we go!”

Will this result in better viewership? It might be a possibility, as people will likely give it a go knowing that it will be ending. This might be a business masterstroke, similar to *Shogun*, but only time will tell. If it works, Netflix will definitely have one of the best sci-fi shows ever.

Though we don’t really know if humans are worth saving or not, the show might be worth the save.
