Netflix’s Badland Hunters Tops The Charts

Netflix is definitely playing their A-game as their investments are really fruitful for a long time now. And as they are investing themselves more and more in Asian and South Asian content, Netflix is easily competing with some regional platforms as well as Prime Video.

In the sequel to 2023’s Concrete Utopia, Badland Hunters features Ma Dong-seok, Lee Hee-joon, Lee Jun-young, and Roh Jeong-eui. Set in a post-apocalyptic Seoul after a devastating earthquake, Nam San and Ji-wan hunt creatures for survival while facing a perilous rescue mission involving a mad doctor and a captured teen.

Ma Dong-seok is definitely one of the biggest names in the industry, especially the Asian one, and that is reflected in the statistics of this week. Though Indians are celebrating the success of Animal, it is one South Korean title that is also creating global Buzz.

As of the past week, despite a late 26th January release date, the film managed to register 14.3M in the bag.

And about coming to the top, it is now at the Number one position in 82 countries, quite a big number for any Asian film. But, this week is definitely ruled by Asian films as Animal and Salaar are also fighting a strong war to keep their positions intact.

Badland Hunters is also getting good responses as the IMDb scale reads 6, and on Rotten Tomatoes, it has 89%.

The film is definitely a Ma Dong-seok show, and the dystopian theme shines through as well. And it does carry the same thrill as Concrete Utopia with better camera work and BGM.

If you are looking for a recommendation for mid-week recharge, go for it. Badland Hunters is definitely one of those good mixtures of apocalyptic worlds and action films.
