Netflix’s Beverly Hills Cop 4 has received a new title, along with a new poster. Eddie Murphy will return to play the iconic character of Axel Foley in the upcoming film after the release of the third entry in 1994.
Currently in the works, the fourth entry in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise has received a new title, ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’. In addition, the film will be available on the streaming service in the summer of 2024.
Netflix has also unveiled the first official poster for the forthcoming Eddie Murphy starrer. As per Netflix’s Tudum, its official synopsis reads:
“Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is back on the beat in Beverly Hills. After his daughter’s life is threatened, she (Taylour Paige) and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy.”
The Beverly Hills Cop franchise took off with the first entry, which premiered in 1984. Helmed by Martin Brest, the film quickly became a box office sensation, earning over $316 million globally against its production budget of $13 million. The second part came out in 1987, which earned nearly $300 million worldwide. However, it was received less favourably by critics compared to the first one. The third part turned out to be a huge critical and financial disaster, managing to collect only $119 million in total against its $70 million budget.
