After starring in last year’s critically acclaimed films like Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Bheed’ and Sudhir Mishra’s ‘Afwaah’, Bhumi Pednekar is all set for her next film titled ‘Bhakshak’ (which means ‘Predator’ in English). The crime thriller movie will start streaming on the Netflix OTT platform from 9th February 2024. And earlier today, the film’s official trailer was unveiled by the streaming platform. Let’s see what it tells us about the film.
‘Bhakshak’ trailer starts off with a news reporter getting shocking news about girls living in shelter homes being abused. Subsequently, the investigation begins but there are many dangerous obstacles which the reporter must overcome to unearth the hard-hitting truth. The film’s trailer is well-cut, and the lead actress Bhumi Pednekar looks in terrific form.
Reportedly inspired by true events, the underlying plotline of ‘Bhakshak’ revolves around an upright and courageous journalist Vaishali (Bhumi Pednekar), who fights for justice and investigates a sensitive case of assault in a shelter for young girls. While trying to expose the wrongdoings happening in the shelter home, she must deal with some influential people who can go to any lengths to cover up the whole case. From the film’s trailer, it looks like ‘Bhakshak’ has the potential to be Bhumi Pednekar’s best ever performance in the lead role.
‘Bhakshak’ has been directed by Pulkit, who has previously helmed the series ‘Bose: Dead/Alive’ starring Rajkummar Rao in the lead role. Besides Bhumi Pednekar in the lead role, the movie also features Sanjay Mishra (as cameraman), Aditya Srivastava (as the antagonist), and Sai Tamhankar (as a cop) in pivotal roles. ‘Bhakshak’ has been produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, which has recently produced films like ‘Dunki’, ‘Jawan’, and ‘Darlings’, to name a few.
