Netflix has just unveiled the first trailer for its spy thriller, ‘Treason‘. The limited series stars Daredevil actor Charlie Cox as an M16 agent, who finds himself in dire straits when a Russian spy from his past re-enters his life. ‘Treason’ premieres on Netflix worldwide on December 26.
The trailer begins on an ominous note – with Olga Kurylenko’s Russian spy Kara Yerzov poisoning the chief of the MI6 spy agency. He survives, but his place as the head of the M16 is taken by Charlie Cox’s Adam Lawrence. Turns out, Kara is an unwelcome intrusion from his past, whose return turns his life upside down. Kara wants him to do the unthinkable, but refusing her means putting his family into peril.
Besides Charlie Cox and Olga Kurylenko, ‘Treason’ stars Oona Chaplin, Ciarán Hinds, Avital Lvova, Samuel Leakey, Beau Gadsdon and Tracy Ifeachor, among others, in pivotal roles. The series comes from celebrated writer Matt Charman, who’s written Bridge of Spies earlier. The series is directed by Louise Hooper (The Witcher) and Sarah O’Gorman (The Last Kingdom, Cursed, The Witcher: Blood Origin).

“Trained and groomed by MI6, Adam Lawrence’s career seems set. But when the past catches up with him in the form of Kara, a Russian spy with whom he shares a complicated past, he is forced to question everything and everyone in his life. A triangular relationship forms between Kara, Adam and his wife, Maddy; three people who are trying to expose each other’s secrets, navigate political and diplomatic relationships, whilst hanging onto their personal lives, and those they love most.”
