A docuseries based on true events is currently streaming on Netflix. And believe us when we tell you, dark and disturbing doesn’t even begin to describe it. The name of the docuseries — ‘Don’t F**k With Cats: Hunting An Internet Killer,’ will at first make you think that it is a mockumentary on the numerous cat videos that do endless rounds of the internet. But delve deeper and you’ll be shocked beyond words at the chilling brutality on display.
The docuseries describes chilling true events, and it is unlike anything we’ve seen before.
Back in 2010, a series of videos showed up on YouTube, each rife with graphic images of innocent little kittens being killed in the most savage manner possible. A sick and demented mind was obviously behind the videos. Soon, more videos followed, one even showed the guy killing a puppy. ‘1 boy 2 kittens’ was a video that showed two kittens being suffocated to death with a vacuum cleaner. Another showed a python eating a kitten alive. A third showed him going despicable things to a half-dead kitten.
The internet was obviously outraged at the gruesomeness on display. But the guy didn’t stop at killing animals. I’m 2012, he posted a video that shook up everyone clued in to the psycho. He tied up a young ex-pat student naked to the bed and stabbed him multiple times with an ice pick and a kitchen knife. He named the video, ‘1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick’.
The killer was a young Canadian psycho, Luka Magnotta. He fled Canada after the murder, but outraged internet sleuths hunted him down with some relentless research, tracking and Internet sleuthing. He was finally caught and sentenced for life, with no hope for release.
Netflix’s Don’t F**k With Cats: Hunting An Internet Killer captures the entire story, recounting it in vivid detail – the posting of the videos, the hunt for the killer, and finally, his capture. The docuseries is a difficult watch for sure, but one that is equally compelling. Your eyes will remain glued to the screen, even as you flinch at the brutality depicted.
