Netflix releasesd the trailer for ‘Hillbilly Eligy’ a film that is part of Netflix’s Oscar slate. Hillbilly Elegy is a family drama based on the #1 New York Times Bestseller memoirs of the same name by J.D. Vance and has been directed by Academy Award winner Ron Howard.
Netflix’s official synopsis for Hillbilly Elegy reads, “J.D. Vance (Gabriel Basso), a former Marine from southern Ohio and current Yale Law student, is on the verge of landing his dream job when a family crisis forces him to return to the home he’s tried to forget. J.D. must navigate the complex dynamics of his Appalachian family, including his volatile relationship with his mother Bev (Amy Adams), who’s struggling with addiction. Fueled by memories of his grandmother Mamaw (Glenn Close), the resilient and whip-smart woman who raised him, J.D. comes to embrace his family’s indelible imprint on his own personal journey.”
The spectacular cast of Hillbilly Elegy on Netflix includes six time Oscar nominee Amy Adams (Catch Me If You Can, Vice), seven time Oscar nominee Glenn Close, known for her works like ‘Fatal Attraction’, ‘The Wife’ and many more. The other cast members are Gabriel Basso, Haley Bennett, Freida Pinto, Bo Hopkins and Owen Asztalos.

Like other big films scheduled for holiday release on Netflix and part of Netflix’s Oscar nomination campaign including David Fincher’s “Mank” and George Clooney’s “The Midnight Sky”, Hillbilly Elegy will also have a short theatrical run before its release on Netflix on November 24.
