After a long wait, we are finally going to see the podcast based horror-thriller series, ‘Archive 81‘, next weekend. This James Wan produced web series had its first trailer released on Netflix’s official YouTube channel yesterday… and it looks enticing – even for non-horror fans. The premise is new, the actors look great and we get just the right amount of the plot to keep us invested in this TV show. Check out the trailer for ‘Archive 81’ at the end of this article.
The official synopsis of the series according to Netflix from almost two years ago, is as follows:
“When archivist Dan Turner (Athie) takes a mysterious job restoring a collection of damaged videotapes from 1994, he finds himself reconstructing the work of documentary filmmaker Melody Pendras (Shihabi) and her investigation into a dangerous cult. As Dan is drawn into Melody’s story, he becomes convinced he can save her from the terrifying end she met 25 years ago.”
While Netflix has changed this synopsis into something more cryptic, the trailer for this upcoming web series pretty much shows us the above-mentioned synopsis to a T (well… almost).
And as we mentioned earlier in this article, the aforementioned eight-part thriller drama series is loosely based on the podcast series of the same name which was created by Marc Sollinger and Daniel Powell – both of them currently acting as producers for this upcoming Netflix show. Said podcast series is currently on its third season and is available on Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Spotify and Soundcloud. So check it out, if you can’t wait for the Netflix series, which will drop next weekend on January 14th 2021.
