March 2025 is shaping up to be a pretty interesting month for the Indian OTT space. So far, we have watched the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and plenty of prominent movies and web series have been released this month, such as Sankranthiki Vasthunam (ZEE5), Vidaamuyarchi (Netflix), Daredevil: Born Again (JioHotstar), Dupahiya (Prime Video), Thandel (Netflix), and more. Now, it’s time to gear up for the next big clash: Khakee: The Bengal Chapter (Netflix) and Kanneda (JioHotstar).
Although there is only a one-day difference between the release dates of Khakee: The Bengal Chapter and Kanneda—with the former scheduled to premiere on March 20 and the latter on March 21—both web series have gained immense hype on social media and among Indian OTT viewers.
While Netflix has been quietly promoting the upcoming sequel to Khakee: The Bihar Chapter (2022), JioHotstar is leaving no stone unturned in marketing Kanneda, led by Parmish Verma. If you watched JioHotstar’s coverage of this year’s Champions Trophy, you must have noticed the barrage of ads during the live-streaming of matches, many of which belonged to Kanneda.
JioHotstar’s aggressive promotion of Kanneda is understandable, considering the upcoming Parmish Verma starrer is the first big Hotstar Special following the Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema merger. Apart from generating massive hype among fans, the web series also benefits from a stacked cast, featuring talents like Verma, Ranvir Shorey, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Aadar Malik, Jasmin Bajwa, Arunoday Singh, and more.
Unlike Khakee (which serves as a standalone sequel to the original 2022 series), Kanneda will have its debut season on March 21. Therefore, it needs all the attention and hype it can get from Indian OTT viewers.
Meanwhile, Khakee: The Bengal Chapter will surely benefit from the grand success of The Bihar Chapter. Both of these projects are creations of Neeraj Pandey, a big name in Hindi cinema, best known for his work on Special 26, Baby, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Special OPS, and more.
The prominence of Pandey and The Bihar Chapter, along with the stellar cast of The Bengal Chapter—featuring Prosenjit Chatterjee, Chitrangada Singh, Jeet, Ritwik Bhowmik, Parambrata Chatterjee, Pooja Chopra, and more—are enough to make Khakee a grand streaming success for Netflix once again.
