Streaming giant Netflix has announced the much-awaited release date for its live-action adaptation of legendary manga, ‘City Hunter’. The popular manga series is being adapted into a film by Netflix, which will premiere on the platform worldwide on 25th April, 2024.
Netflix has also revealed the first teaser for its ‘City Hunter’ live-action adaptation, which showcases actor Ryohei Suzuki as Ryo Saeba, the interesting protagonist of City Hunter. The film will be an origin story of sorts for the notorious Ryo Saeba.
Protagonist Ryo Saeba is a playboy, unflappable yet excitable, silly but cool. He’s also the number one “sweeper” who cleans up trouble in the underworld in modern-day Shinjuku in Tokyo. The City Hunter movie follows Ryo Saeba on a thrilling, action-packed adventure in Shinjuku. The film is adapted from the manga of the same name by Tsukasa Hojo which was published from 1985 to 1991.
When Ryo’s partner Makimura is killed, he and Makimura’s sister Kaori team up to find out the truth, thus forming a new duo. While Ryohei Suzuki plays Ryo Saeba, Misato Morita plays Kaori Makimura; Masanobu Ando plays Ryo’s partner Hideyuki Makimura, and Fumino Kimura plays detective Saeko Nogami. The movie is directed by Yuichi Sato.
