Netflix’s ‘Maid’ in IMDb Top 250 But Behind This Indian Web-Series

By Binged Bureau - Oct 19, 2021 @ 06:10 pm

Netflix series ‘Maid’ has consistently featured on the Netflix top ten series list since its release on the OTT platform earlier this month. And recently, the critically acclaimed show has become one of the rare titles (six to be precise) from the year 2021, to be included in the coveted IMDb top 250 TV shows list.

However, despite the audiences’ appreciation and widespread acclaim for the Netflix show ‘Maid’, it is still behind one Indian web series, which also started streaming in 2021. We are talking about the TVF original show ‘Aspirants’ which boasts of an IMDb rating of 9.7.

‘Aspirants’ not just outranks ‘Maid’ but is also ahead of the brilliantly executed miniseries ‘Mare of Easttown’ starring Academy award-winning actress Kate Winslet.

Having said that, ‘Maid’ is being very well received by audiences globally. The show follows a young, single mother Alex (played by Margaret Qualley) who escapes from an emotionally abusive relationship. Subsequently, she starts a new life by working as a maid, in order to provide for her daughter as she fights poverty and homelessness in one of the richest countries of the world – America.

Here is the list of the six shows from 2021 that are on the IMDb top-rated TV shows list as per their current ranks:

6. Maid (American)

Streaming on: Netflix

5. Mare of Easttown (American)

Streaming on: Disney+ Hotstar

4. It’s a Sin (British)

Streaming on: HBO Max

3. Aspirants (Indian)

Streaming on: TVF YouTube

2. Invincible (American)

Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video

1. Clarkson’s Farm (British)

Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video

So, as you can observe here, the Indian web series ‘Aspirants’ is currently on the third spot (as per IMDb ranking) amongst the IMDb top rated six shows from the year 2021. Netflix show ‘Maid’ presently ranks sixth on the list while ‘Mare of Easttown’ holds the fifth spot as per the current IMDb rankings.

It’s indeed a delightful news for Indian viewers that ‘Aspirants’ has become the only Indian show from 2021 that has made it to the coveted international listicle and is even ahead of shows like ‘Mare of Easttown’ and ‘Maid’.
