Netflix in a press release announced the commencement of shooting of a new Spanish original series ‘Jaguar’. The series is being produced by Bambú Producciones and directed by Carlos Sedes and Jacobo Martínez. It will be shot at different locations in Spain.
The Netflix series is set in the 1960s Spain when it became a harbor for World War II Nazi refugees. It follows a young woman, Isabel Garrido (Blanca Suárez), who survived the Mauthausen extermination camp and is now on the lookout for one of the most dangerous man in Europe, Bachmann. She soon comes to know that she isn’t alone in this mission and later unites with a group of agents in the search of justice. It is here that she gets her code name ‘Jaguar’. (Well it seems Spanish series have a thing for code names, remember Money Heist!)
The star cast of Jaguar include Blanca Suárez (Las Chicas del Cable, El Bar), Iván Marcos (45 Revoluciones, Fariña), Francesc Garrido (Smoking Room, Grietas), Adrián Lastra (Primos, Velvet), and Óscar Casas (Siempre Bruja, Instinto).
One interesting thing to note here is that the storyline looks somewhat similar to the Al Pacino starrer ‘Hunters’ on Amazon Prime Video, although there’s a difference in the location and time line. Recently, Hunters has been renewed for the second season by Amazon.
Jaguar’s release dates are still under wraps and might soon be announced by Netflix.
