Netflix’s One Piece: This Fan-Favourite Character Will Shine In Season 2

Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 is a go, and fans are excited about the new characters that are set to appear in the next season. One of those characters is a die-hard Cotton Candy Lover. Yup, we are talking about Chopper, better known by his full name, Tony Tony Chopper.

One of the show’s leading actors, Mackenyu, confirmed in January this year that Chopper would appear in Season 2 in his interview with AugustMan. “Chopper’s going to be there, definitely,” he said. The first season focused on Luffy’s early adventures and his preparation for heading towards the Grand Line. The next season will focus on the Arabasta Saga, which comprises many exhilarating arcs and plenty of intriguing adversaries and friends. Speaking of friends, Luffy will get a new friend in the form of Chopper in Season 2.

Chopper, a human reindeer, will become the sixth member of the Straw Hats. He can transform into a human hybrid, as he ate Hito Hito no Mi, a Devil Fruit. His backstory is emotional, and his personality is vibrant. He is indeed one of the best characters in One Piece. His addition to the show certainly opens doors for other new characters such as Nico Robin, Nefertari Vivi, Captain Smoker, Sir Crocodile, and more.

Fans love Chopper because of his cute appearance and sweet persona. He can greatly appeal to the show’s viewers, particularly those who are not familiar with Eiichiro Oda’s work. He is a great friend who never hesitates to step up when his friends need him the most. Plus, he is hard-working, stubborn, and possesses a sense of right or wrong. All these qualities make him one of the strongest characters in One Piece. As we move forward with Chopper’s beautifully-written character arc, we realise the significance of self-acceptance in our lives.

However, showrunners Matt Owens and Steven Maeda need to be careful while dealing with Chopper in the show. The fan-favourite character can be a sensation for Netflix if handled well. First, casting for Chopper needs to be spot on. The makers need to select an actor who can radiate Chopper’s sweet and heartwarming persona and can do complete justice to the character. In addition, Owens and Maeda have to be careful about the CGI required to create Chopper. CGI is a tricky thing and can generate dilemmas for the showrunners if not taken care of.

One Piece Season 2 is expected to air on Netflix between September 2024 and March 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
