Netflix has come up with another unique documentary in Operation Varsity Blues. We all know the special bond that is shared between Netflix and documentaries. This new age documentary is created by real-life wiretaps along with some recreation based on all the evidence that was gathered during the time.
Rick Singer was the man at the helm of this 2019 admission scandal that rocked America. We can see how he persuaded his wealthy clients to cheat the system so that their children could get the best. Operation Varsity Blues goes to show the length to which wealthy families were willing to go to get admission into elite colleges.
The system that was already created to favour the privileged was twisted and turned further in an attempt to get into the elite colleges throughout the United States. Rick Singer created what he called a side door to guarantee admission for some of his wealthy friends. This is one of the most iconic cases as it had over 50 high profile arrests including actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman
It was one of the largest scandals and had the highest number of prosecutions by the Department of Justice. This operation left everybody in shock as it showed the ground reality of inequality that exists between the rich and the poor and how the system is being manipulated to keep it that way.
This documentary stars Matthew Modine in the lead role. Operation Varsity Blue is directed by Chris Smith and written by Jon Karmen. Operation Varsity Blue will be streaming on Netflix on 17th March.
