A rusty cornfield, a daughter, a space journey… wait, it is not what you’re thinking of, but this all-new series from Netflix sure sounds intriguing. Netflix dropped the trailer of this upcoming German series, ‘The Signal,’ and it’s a ‘big bang’ moment for sci-fi lovers!
Produced by Bon Voyage Films GmbH, known as the German Motion Picture Fund—a government funding program supporting the film, the storyline revolves around Paula, who mysteriously disappears on her way home from the International Space Station. The only lead her husband Sven and her daughter Charlie have is a ‘signal,’ a sort of communication only with Charlie, and the revelation that Paula discovered “something up there.”
‘The Signal’ portrays the mystery hunt for Paula by the father-daughter duo, crossing unfathomable dangers and glueing a fractured home life. Directed by Sebastian Hilger and Philipp Leinemann, and co-written by Fitz, Nadine Gottmann, and Kim Zimmermann, this four-part limited series is scheduled for release on March 7, 2024 on Netflix.
The lost astronaut, Paula, is portrayed by ‘The Last Kingdom’ fame Peri Baumeister, Sven by Florian David Fitz, and daughter Charlie by Yuna Bennett. ‘The Signal’, known as Das Signal in German, promises an engaging viewing experience with episodes crafted by accomplished directors.
