Netflix’s The Crown Finds Its Princess Margaret For Season 5

Oscar-winning actress Lesley Manville will take over from Helena Bonham Carter as the new Princess Margaret for the final season of Netflix’s hit drama, The Crown. Creators, British production company Left Bank Pictures will start shoot for the last and final Season 5 most likely early next year, that is if the Covid-19 situation eases.

Leslie Manville is the latest sign up for The Crown Season 5. She joins Imelda Staunton, who will take over the role of Queen Elizabeth II from Olivia Colman.

Princess Margaret, the younger sister of Queen Elizabeth, was portrayed by actress Vanessa Kirby in Seasons 1 and 2 of the show, while Helena Bonham Carter plays her for Seasons 3 and 4. Season 4 is likely to hit Netflix later this year.

For those not in the know, Peter Morgan, the creator of The Crown, casts new actors every two seasons of The Crown, in a novel attempt at diverging from tried and tested methods of filming historical biopics.

The Crown follows the life of Queen Elizabeth II, with each season covering a decade or so of her life. The third season documents the Queen’s reign between 1964 and 1977, and premiered in November 2019 on Netflix. The Crown has been appreciated for its opulence, grandeur and authenticity, not to say, the superior acting by the ensemble cast.

The Crown Season 4 had completed shoot along with Season 3, and will premiere later this year on Netflix.
