Netflix’s The Gray Man Gets An Outstanding Audience Score on RT

Rotten Tomatoes! There was a time when people used to take this review-aggregation platform for movies and tv shows seriously. Nowadays, it has become somewhat of an impostor. Why? How about we take Netflix’s The Gray Man as an example to understand the situation? RT has revealed the audience score of the latest Russo Brothers project. The movie has received a 90% “fresh” audience score (100+ verified ratings). On the other hand, it currently stands with a 50% “rotten” critic score. Yup! That’s a pretty big gap!

The Gray Man’s high audience score shows that viewers do not care about critics these days. If they are interested in watching a new movie or a show, they will watch it no matter what happens. Plus, audiences love these big-budget action movies. Netflix played a risky but pretty smart gamble with the latest Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans starrer just like it did with Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson’s Red Notice. And we have to admit that the gamble has paid off. The majority of streaming viewers are in awe of the film.

Rotten Tomatoes possesses a long list of movies or shows with a mind-boggling difference between their audience and critic scores. How about we take Tom Hardy’s Venom? RT called the film “chaotic and messy” and rated it a 30% “rotten” rating. However, the audience did not care about the critic score at all and bestowed it an 81% “fresh” rating. Also, Netflix’s Don’t Look Up ended up disappointing the critics (55%) on the RT platform. But viewers’ love for the film (78%) is too hard to ignore.

How can we forget Star Wars: The Last Jedi? The majority of the fanbase loathes the Skywalker Saga’s eighth episode to this day. Critics hailed it as one of the best entries in the SW franchise (91%). On the flip side, fans gave everything they got to lower the film’s audience score to a 42% “rotten” rating (based on 100,000+ ratings).

Critics have blamed the makers for borrowing too much of The Gray Man’s plot from various action or spy movies. Also, they have criticised the movie’s breakneck pacing. Although, the ensemble cast and action sequences have received praise from them.

The Gray Man stars Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Dhanush, Jessica Henwick, Alfre Woodard, Wagner Moura, Billy Bob Thornton, and many more with Russo Brothers at the helm. It is now available on Netflix. Stay tuned for more updates.
