Henry Cavill returns for his final season on Netflix’s The Witcher. The streaming giant has dropped the official teaser for the upcoming third season, one day after releasing Season 3’s official poster featuring Cavill as Geralt, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, and Freya Allan as Ciri.
The latest Witcher teaser promises big things for the leading trio and much more. Most importantly, we see Geralt feeling fear for the first time. This scenario indicates that Season 3 will have a darker tone compared to the previous entries.
“Now, for the first time, I understand real fear,” declares Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia.
The forthcoming season has been divided into parts, scheduled to hit Netflix in the summer. The first five episodes will release on June 29. And the remaining three episodes will hit the streaming platform on July 27.
Season 3 will undoubtedly be a bittersweet experience for the show’s fans due to Cavill’s departure. Last October, Netflix announced that the series would continue without Henry Cavill, replacing him with Liam Hemsworth in the leading role. Many believed that the actor departed from the series to focus on his reemergence as Superman in the DC Extended Universe after the events of Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam.
Netflix has also released the official synopsis of The Witcher Season 3:
“As monarchs, mages and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri (Freya Allan) into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to uncover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever.”
