Fans have found out that the new poster for ‘Stree 2’ has been copied from a poster of the second season of popular Netflix series ‘Stranger Things’. It looks like an out and out copy and even the color grading is identical.
The art of poster-making has reached an all-time low and we see the same posters everywhere. There are few poses, few fonts and few styles that the makers focus on while making them and it is a wonder how it works this way. It is very rare that we see a genuinely good poster and the fact that this is an element of the film that deserves separate attention and effort is ignored by most studios. In this environment, copying a poster is more inelegant. There are multiple posters for the movie and most of them are original and even intriguing. The movie comes from a franchise and cinematic universe that has the trust of the audience and is probably a potential hit at the box office. The makers should have been more careful with the promotions and copying a poster is downright unethical. Even a big movie like ‘Kalki’ had to face immense controversy for copying the concept art of an artist without consent. There should be more laws against such plagiarism and producers, distributors should refrain from taking the easy route and copying somebody else’s hard work.
