New Avatar 3 Filming Update Confirms Returns Of Original Actors

Avatar 3 will feature plenty of characters from the original movie (2009). One of the original actors who is set to appear in the threequel is Joel David Moore. He played Dr. Norm Spellman in the first film. Being a part of the Avatar program, Spellman aided Dr. Grace Augustine (played by Sigourney Weaver) and the N’avi people in defeating the RDA.

Apart from Moore, Avatar 3 will also feature Giovanni Ribisi, who played Parker Selfridge. He served as the arrogant and greedy head administrator for the RDA mining program in the first movie. The character barely manages to save himself during the 2009 movie’s final moments. Given the newly released set photos from Moore, it is clear that Selfridge has re-teamed with RDA to continue his mission on Pandora.

Selfridge was hell-bent on obtaining unobtanium in the first film. However, The Way of Water introduced Amrita, a Tulkun-secreted element that can halt human aging. Fans could witness Selfridge trying to collect Amrita in abundant amounts to regain his self-respect and confidence.

Apart from the return of Spellman and Selfridge, another highly anticipated encounter is the confrontation between Jake Sully and Colonel Quaritch, now in his Na’vi body. The death of Neteyam, Jake’s son, at the hands of one of Quaritch’s men in the second movie, fuels Jake’s determination to seek vengeance.

Helmed by James Cameron, Avatar 3 is scheduled to hit theatres globally on December 19, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
