New Back To Black Trailer Shows Marisa Abela As Amy Winehouse

The new Back to Black trailer, starring Marisa Abela as Amy Winehouse, is out now. Helmed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, the film also stars Jack O’Connell, Eddie Marsan, Lesley Manville, and Juliet Cowan.

Back to Black will cover the highly publicised life of the late English singer Amy Winehouse. The upcoming biopic will focus on Winehouse’s journey, from her early career days to the release of her hit songs like “Back to Black” and “Rehab”.

The latest official trailer shows more of Marisa Abela’s Amy Winehouse. In the clip, she says, “I want people to hear my voice and just forget their troubles for five minutes.” Plus, she tells someone on a phone call that she is no Spice Girl. According to rumours, it was Winehouse’s love for Blake Fielder-Civil that inspired her to write and develop the record-shattering album “Back to Black”, released in 2006. Fielder-Civil left Winehouse to get back to his ex-girlfriend.

Upon release, Back to Black sold over 3.5 million copies in the United Kingdom alone, and later became the UK’s second-best-selling album of the 21st century. As of now, the album has sold more than 16 million copies across the globe.

Starring Marisa Abela, the upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic, Back to Black, will come out in theatres worldwide on May 10, 2024. It will arrive in the UK’s theatres a month before, on April 12, 2024. The film is a joint production of Focus Features, StudioCanal, and Monumental Pictures. Stay tuned for more updates.
