The James Bond movie franchise may have found a new creative helm. Thanks to Amazon, the franchise’s new lead producers could be David Heyman (Harry Potter series) and Amy Pascal (MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy).
According to Puck News, Amazon executives are reportedly pursuing Heyman and Pascal to spearhead the creative direction of the James Bond series, hoping that this combination will successfully carry the franchise forward. If Amazon confirms this scenario, we could get the next James Bond movie sooner than expected.
However, as the outlet reports, nothing can be made official until the transaction with former producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli is finalised.
Beyond the Harry Potter series, David Heyman has also produced projects such as I Am Legend, Gravity, the Fantastic Beasts series, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Barbie, Wonka, and more. Meanwhile, Amy Pascal is known for producing the MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy, Ghostbusters, the Venom series, Challengers, and others.
Pascal is also serving as a producer for the upcoming Greta Gerwig’s The Chronicles of Narnia movie for Netflix.
Puck’s report indicates that a theatrical Bond movie is the first order of business, meaning the search for writers and/or a director must come before selecting the next James Bond actor.
The announcement that Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who had carefully protected the Bond legacy for years, were relinquishing control sparked significant fan backlash. Many feared Amazon’s involvement would lead to unwanted changes, diluting the character and injecting perceived “woke” elements.
Therefore, Heyman and Pascal not only have to preserve the James Bond legacy but also justify their involvement by delivering action-packed, high-quality 007 movies. Stay tuned for more updates.
