Stephen King is often referred to as the King of horror and thriller literature. So much so, that numerous of his works have been adapted to the small and big screens, be it novels, novellas, and even short stories.
Some of the fan-favorite adaptions of his work include Misery – the project Kathy Bates won an Oscar for, Pet Semetary, The It franchise, The Mist, Cujo and many more. Following the lead of these captivating thrillers is another Stephen King classic, ‘The Monkey’.
Having wrapped up shooting about a week ago, it is confirmed that joining the lead cast are names like: Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Christian Convery, and Sarah Levy. Even more so, the team behind the movie includes genre veteran James Wan, creator of The Conjuring Universe and co-creator of the Saw and Insidious franchises.
In The Monkey, when twin brothers Hal and Bill discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths follow. They throw the monkey away and move on with their lives, continuously growing apart. However, when the chain of death sparks again, they realize they must reunite to destroy the toy for good.
Theo James will be seen playing the twins in later years as Convery plays them young. With a promising cast and an acclaimed literary plotline, the movie is all set to be another Stephen King adaptation classic!
