It is not uncommon for feature adaptations of renowned books to become highly anticipated film projects. And this year was not any different. Adaptations like ‘Dune: Part 2’, ‘Mickey 17’, ‘Wicked’, ‘Frankenstein’, and more either ruled the international box office or secured top positions amongst lists chronicling the best upcoming releases.
Next up in line for the genre is ‘Forever, Interrupted’, a bestselling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, the American author who took the (book-tok) world on fire with her works ‘The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo’, ‘Daisy Jones & the Six’, Malibu Rising’, and more. This marks the 3rd adaptation announcement for Reid, following the release of a drama miniseries for the second name in the list and a movie announcement for the first.
What’s more is that Academy Award winner Laura Dern has officially been cast in the Netflix limited miniseries from the entertainment house A24. Starring alongside her will be American actress Margaret Qualley, one of the breakout stars of Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’. The duo have been cast as Elsie and Susan, the lead wife-mother-in-law duo.
The plot follows Elsie and Ben’s electric whirlwind romance – within months they’re married and living happily ever after. However, Ben’s unexpected death forces Elsie to come face to face with Susan, the MIL who doesn’t know she exists. The duo’s journey through grieving emerges fruitful with cathartic new beginnings for both of them.
