New Web Drama – Telugu Writer Chalam’s Most Controversial Novel!

Gudipati Venkata Chalam is popularly known by his last name, Chalam. Most of Chalam’s work lays emphasis on problems faced by women, specially in India. He strongly believes that women should fight against these physical and psychological troubles. This Telugu philosopher is considered one of the most influential people in regional literature and now, his work has successfully booked a place in the web industry.

One of his works, ‘Maidanam’ is his most loved, popular and controversial novel. The novel talks about marriage freedom and other problems related to it. The story revolves around a woman who moves out of her loveless marriage to be with her real connection, Ameer. It’s about Rajeswari’s (the protagonist) choices and freedom, while she breaks the social norms. This book will be soon turned into a web drama directed by Venu Udugula, who is best known for ‘Needi Naadi Oke Katha’. ‘Maidanam’ will be directed by one of his assistants while he will produce it for a streaming platform.

This is not the first time. Earlier, Chalam’s short story ‘Doshagunam’ was adapted as a Telugu movie ‘Grahanam’. No concrete information has been received with regards to the streaming platform, release date and cast.
