News of the World is set for its arrival on Netflix and Tom Hanks and academy award winner Paul Greengrass come together for another fascinating story. the duo had last worked on captain Phillips which won a lot of critical acclaim for its simple storytelling and strong performances.
News of the World is based on the 2016 novel which was penned down by Paulette Jiles. The screen adaptation is being written and directed by Paul Greengrass and the story revolves around a civil war veteran. He must return a girl to her family and the story takes us through the struggles and obstacles that he has to face along the way.
Along with Tom Hanks, Helena Zengel and Neil Sandilands play pivotal roles in this film. The film is set in the plains of Texas 5 years after the civil war has ended. Jefferson Kyle Kidd which is the character played by Tom hanks crosses paths with a 10-year-old girl and takes up the task of returning her to her aunt and uncle.
News of the World showcases the harsh terrain and aftermath of the civil war with Texas in its background as different parties struggle to make it through the tough times that they have to face. The long journey becomes one big fight for survival as they encounter threats at every corner possible.
Tom Hanks who plays the War veteran tries to reconcile with his past as his long affair with killing and bloodshed has made him guilty. He sees this as an opportunity to face his inner demons and hopefully restores some calm to the inner chaos.
News of the World will be streaming on Netflix on 10th February. This film will not be premiering on Netflix in USA, Canada and a few select territories.
